Local SEO for service businesses

We work the four things that move local search, in order of impact: your Google Business Profile, your reviews, a page for every service and town, and consistent listings. Then we fix whatever is broken underneath.

For: Service businesses that want more calls from Google search and Google Maps.

Where local search usually goes wrong

You’re not in the map results

The map results are where local searchers look first. A thin profile, the wrong categories or a handful of reviews keep you out of them.

People only find you by name

If your search traffic comes from people who already know you, search isn’t bringing you new customers. The goal is showing up for the service.

Something is quietly broken

A noindex tag left over from a redesign, a broken sitemap or a slow site can hold everything back without anyone noticing.

What we do

The four levers, in order of impact

1. Google Business Profile

  • The right primary and secondary categories
  • Every service and service area filled in
  • Weekly posts
  • Real job photos, not stock images

2. Reviews

  • A simple way to ask after every completed job
  • A reply to every review, good or bad
  • Nothing that breaks Google’s rules: no filtering who gets asked, no incentives

3. A page for every service and every town

  • Written for people, with real details from your work
  • Linked together so Google understands what you do and where
  • No thin, copy-paste town pages

4. Listings and local links

  • Your name, address and phone consistent across Google, Bing, Apple, Yelp, BBB and the directories that matter in your trade
  • Local links from real relationships: suppliers, trade associations, sponsorships

Underneath

Technical SEO for any site

Local work sits on top of a site Google can read. We check and fix the foundation.

Indexing problems

Noindex tags, robots.txt mistakes and sitemap errors that keep pages out of Google.

Site speed

Slow pages on phones, oversized images and heavy scripts.

Structured data

LocalBusiness, Service and FAQ markup so search engines read your details correctly.

Search Console and GA4

Set up properly, so you and we can see what’s actually happening.

The honest timeline

What to expect, month by month

Months one to three are foundations, and the map usually hasn’t moved yet. It moves in months four to six. After that it compounds. We’d rather tell you that now.

Anyone promising page one in 30 days is guessing. We don’t promise rankings, positions or map placement. We promise the work, done properly, and a clear report on what’s changing.

Left out on purpose

What we don’t do

  • Chase national rankings for searches your customers don’t make
  • Send vanity reports full of impressions and keyword counts
  • Generate hundreds of thin pages at scale
  • Buy, fake or incentivize reviews

Reporting

A short monthly report you can read in two minutes

Calls from search, form requests, where you show up on the map, and new reviews. That’s it. We don’t report which keyword produced each call, because that data doesn’t exist for organic search.

What we need from you

Two things only you can supply

  • Photos from real jobs, sent as you go
  • One person who can help ask customers for reviews

Search is changing

The same work feeds AI answers

ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews pull from the same signals: a complete profile, consistent listings, clear service pages and real reviews. Good local SEO is most of the work of getting recommended by AI tools too.

FAQ

Common questions

How long does local SEO take?

Months one to three are foundations, and the map usually hasn’t moved yet. It moves in months four to six, and after that it compounds. Technical fixes and Business Profile changes can show up sooner.

Can you guarantee map placement or first-page rankings?

No, and be careful with anyone who does. Nobody controls Google’s results. We commit to the work, a clear monthly report, and an honest read on what’s working.

Why does the Google Business Profile matter so much?

It’s what appears in the map results, which is where most local searchers look first. The right categories, complete services and areas, regular posts and real photos all help Google match you to nearby searches.

How do we get more Google reviews without breaking the rules?

Ask every customer after the job, the same way, every time. Google doesn’t allow offering incentives for reviews or only asking customers you expect to be happy. A simple, consistent ask is what works.

Do I need a page for every town I serve?

For the towns that matter to your business, yes, with real content about the work you do there. Not hundreds of near-identical pages. Google treats those as spam.

What does the monthly report show?

Calls from search, form requests, where you show up on the map, and new reviews, plus what we’re working on next.

Can you tell me which keyword produced each call?

For organic search, no one can. Google stopped passing search terms years ago. We report what’s real: calls and forms by source, plus map visibility.

Is SEO different from AEO?

They overlap a lot. SEO gets your pages ranked in search results; AEO gets your business cited in AI answers. Most local SEO work feeds both.
